Adobe Photoshop
4.x
Adobe Photoshop 4.x will not run by clicking the application icon after install. To run Adobe Photoshop 4.x, you must open File Manager and run PHOTOSHP.EXE manually. The first attempt to run after starting a fresh Windows session will always fail with no warning provided, and the second attempt will run the program successfully.
If you use cputype=pentium_mmx to run the application with Pentium MMX, make sure you have updated to version 4.0.1, as it includes significant stability improvements for the application when running on MMX-enabled CPUs. This update is highly recommended to anyone using Adobe Photoshop 4.0.
Note: Win32s v1.30, which ships with Adobe Photoshop 4.x, supports per-process memory allocation of over 16 MB, so it can be used with modern workflows, as in the screenshot with a 35 MB bitmap opened up:
