Navigation / Share Settings
The Navigation / share settings tab of UMS allow you to determine the details of how UMS shares the content to your device. Below are the options that are available on this tab.
Thumbnails, covers art, artworks
- Generate thumbnails
Select the checkbox for automatic creation of thumbnail pictures of your media files. - Thumbnail seeking position (in seconds)
Most video files begin with some seconds of a black background before the movie starts. You can set the time in seconds for the video thumbnail position. - Image thumbnails
Choose whether or not to show thumbnails of images. - Use MPlayer for video thumbnails
The external program MPlayer sometimes yields better results for thumbnail creation than the default thumbnailer, so just try it. - DVD ISO thumbnails
Create thumbnails for DVD ISO-images - Audio thumbnails import
Choose how to get thumbnails for audio files (cover art), none or download them from Cover Art Archive. - Alternate video cover art folder
Select the folder on your filesystem which contains cover art for videos.
Note: The cover art need to be named as their movie with the exact same name but with ".cover.jpg" or ".cover.png" added at the end, or with a new "jpg" or "png" extension. Example: Moonlight.mkv.cover.jpg or Moonlight.jpg
In the case of audio files, folder.jpg, folder.png or with "albumart" in the name and a "jpg" extension will also make these files be used as cover art.
In any case, your covers art will be used first, and UMS will generate them only if they are missing.
Alternatively, you can also use an external software to tag your media and UMS will use these tags informations.
File sorting / naming
- File order
Determines the order of listed content when a client browses a folder.
It can be by alphabetical A-Z, by date (newest first), by reverse date (oldest first), by ASCIIbetical (i.e. using ASCII code values), by alphanumeric (a.k.a. natural sort e.g. "Season 2" before "Season 10"), randomly or no sorting at all. - Ignore articles "a" and "the" while sorting
Controls whether or not to ignore the word "a" and "the" while sorting files. - Prettify filenames
Controls whether or not to automatically rename filenames to be more readable by removing superfluous information from them such as release group, quality, source, etc. - Use info from www.OpenSubtitles.org
This appends episode titles and movie years from IMDb to the file name.
For example, the file "Show.Name.S01E01.HDTV-GroupName" will show up as "Show Name - 101 - Episode Title".
Virtual folders / files
